Jessica Lia Berry Shines in Acclaimed Solo Show at Hollywood Fringe 2025

From Philadelphia stages to Hollywood’s spotlight, Jessica Lia Berry revives her one-woman powerhouse performance—and she's just getting started.

A Triumphant Return to the Stage
Jessica Lia Berry lit up the 2025 Hollywood Fringe Festival with her boldly revived one-woman show, I’M STILL NOT THAT GIRL. The show, performed on June 23 and 28 at the Madnani Theater, reintroduced audiences to Berry’s darkly comedic lens on modern womanhood—delivered with a rawness, wit, and authenticity that struck a chord.

From Fringe Favorite to Cultural Commentary
A reimagined version of her 2023 hit I’m Just Not That Girl, the updated show dives deeper into the realities of millennial chaos. It follows a woman freshly dumped after moving cross-country with her boyfriend, now navigating LA with nothing but bad decisions, fake engagements, identity crises, and missed therapy appointments. It’s heartbreak, hilarity, and healing rolled into one unforgettable hour.

Crafted with Industry Powerhouses
To shape this honest rollercoaster of a script, Berry teamed up with legendary showrunner Bennie Richburg Jr. (The Fresh Prince of Bel-AirMartin) and director-producer Lauren Downey (Patriots DayWish I Was Here). Their guidance helped elevate Berry’s lived experience into a polished production that felt both cinematic and intensely personal.

More Than a Performer—A Storyteller with Purpose
Berry’s work isn’t just entertaining—it’s evocative. “Living in L.A. feels surreal—equal parts dream and absurdity. I wanted to capture that truth in this show,” she says. With a commitment to unfiltered storytelling, Berry spotlights the chaos and contradictions of womanhood in a city obsessed with perfection.

From Local Stages to International Buzz
Her Fringe Festival success is only the beginning. Berry is scheduled to bring I’M STILL NOT THAT GIRL to the United Solo Festival in New York City on November 11, showcasing her East Coast roots and deepening her impact on both coasts. She is also in early development on a TV adaptation of the show.

On Screen: Breaking Stereotypes with Every Role
Beyond the stage, Berry continues to leave a lasting impression on screen. She recently starred in Mz. Berry, a new-wave Blaxploitation short film centered around a revenge-fueled journey post-heartbreak. Other standout appearances include the viral short A Toast Between Legends featuring Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, and her role as Giselle in Zane’s The Jump Off.

Grounded in Talent and Tenacity
A native of Philadelphia, Berry began performing early, inspired by her debut in the city’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. She trained at the Wilma Theater and Mike Lemon Casting, booked her first TV role in Hack alongside David Morse, and earned a Theatre degree from Fordham University—all while competing in collegiate track and field.

What’s Next for Jessica Lia Berry?
With a blend of grit, humor, and undeniable presence, Berry is carving out a unique lane as an artist who isn’t afraid to tell the messy, real, complicated stories. Whether onstage, onscreen, or behind the pen, she continues to prove that she may not be “that girl”—but she’s exactly the woman we need right now.
