GOLY Ignites the Music Scene With “Connection,” a Pop Single Infused With Spanish Guitar Flair

On February 20th, Los Angeles welcomed a vibrant new sound with the release of “Connection,” the latest single from rising artist GOLY. Blending modern pop with the warmth of Spanish guitar, the track has quickly become a standout in the city’s eclectic music landscape. To celebrate the release, we sat down with GOLY to explore the inspiration behind the song, the visual storytelling in the music video, and the deeper meaning behind its playful, unexpected symbolism.

Los Angeles Magazine: “Connection” feels both modern and timeless. What sparked the idea for this blend of pop and Spanish guitar?

GOLY: I’ve always been drawn to the emotional power of Spanish guitar. There’s something raw and human about it. When I started writing “Connection,” I knew I wanted that warmth to be the heartbeat of the track. Pop music gives you energy and movement, but the guitar brings soul. Combining the two felt natural, like two worlds speaking the same language.

LAM: You chose Los Angeles for the release. What makes this city the right home for the single?

GOLY: LA is a cultural mosaic. You hear every influence imaginable—Latin, pop, R&B, electronic, acoustic. It’s a city that encourages experimentation. “Connection” was shaped from Montreal and also by that environment in Los Angeles. Releasing it in LA felt like honoring the place that inspired it.

LAM: The lyrics explore emotional alignment and chemistry. What message were you hoping listeners would take away?

GOLY: The song is about that spark you feel when someone truly sees you. Not just attraction, but recognition. In a world where everything moves so fast, real connection is rare. I wanted the track to remind people of that moment when two energies sync and everything feels effortless.

LAM: In the music video, there’s a recurring theme with fruit. A man hands you a fruit, and later he serves you many different kinds, which you devour with exaggerated behavior. What does that symbolize?

GOLY: The fruit represents temptation, curiosity, and the playful side of desire. In the video, the man offering fruit is like someone offering emotional or sensual connection. Each fruit symbolizes a different flavor of experience—sweetness, intensity, mystery. My exaggerated reactions are intentional; they show how overwhelming connection can feel when you let yourself fully indulge in it. It’s humorous, but it’s also honest. Sometimes emotions hit us in big, dramatic ways, and I wanted to capture that with a bit of surrealism.

LAM: How has the response been since the release?

GOLY: It’s been beautiful. People are connecting with the fusion of styles and the emotional message. Some say it makes them dance, others say it makes them reflect and others say they like the exaggeration of the scenes. This is exactly the goal and what I hoped for.

LAM: What does “Connection” represent for your artistic journey?

GOLY: It’s the beginning of a new chapter. I’m exploring sounds that feel authentic to me— global, emotional, rhythmic. “Connection” is a doorway into what’s coming next.

LAM: Where can people find your single and watch the music video?
